A Fantastic day of Very Competitive Rugby.

The Under 9’s made the long journey to Boroughmuir Rugby Club in Edinburgh on Sunday the 3rd of November to take part in the National Lexus tournament.
The boys looked very smart in their new shirts provided by Carlisle Lexus, there was great excitement when John handed them out in the changing rooms before hand.
Thank you very much from all the boys and parents to Mike and his team in Carlisle.
The whole tournament was organised by Lexus UK and was executed very well, we would definately take part again if the chance arose.

The squad of 13 players had 4 games to play in total, with the results as follows:

Carlisle 4 – Boroughmuir 4
Carlisle 2 – Northern 3
Carlisle 0 - West of Scotland 6
Carlisle 7 - Houghton (Durham) 1

I think it would be fair to say we were very competitive in all the games except for our game against West of Scotland as this was hampered considerably by the rules applied by the referee who allowed full rucking and mauling, which our lads had never experienced before and were totally confused by. However, it was great credit to them that they played on and made the best of the situation against a very good West of Scotland team, who eventually won the competition.

This was a very high standard of competition and it was great to see that our boys could compete with the best from North and South of the border.

All the boys played well but we had a couple of exceptional performances from Luke O’Neil and Joe Woodruff who were outstanding on the day.

We would especially like to thank Lexus Carlisle for providing a luxury bus for the parents to travel to Edinburgh to see their kids play. It was very much appreciated!
