All round excellent performance

Percy Park travelled to Carlisle to play what proved to be a very competitive and entertaining match.

Carlisle had an impressive opening quarter, attacking right from the kick-off. The first try was scored by Todd Lightfoot following great ball retention from the whole team.

Carlisle went 10-0 up after scrum half James made a break, unloaded to Josh Blain who passed on to Josh Hope before passing to Jak who scored. Great team work and support running again.

The third try was scored by Josh Blain after a long pass from Josh Hope created space on the left.

Finn Baraclough used his pace to score another try to make it 4:0 at the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter was quite tight with only two tries being scored. Percy Parks try came from turn-over ball near their own try line, it was picked up by their winger who ran the length of the pitch to score.

But Carlisle stuck in and Josh Blain scored a second try to make it 25 - 5 at half time.

Percy Park had a good start in the third quarter. They scored an early try to take the score to 25 – 10.

Carlisle started to pick up the pace again and Jonny Davies picked up lose ball and made a break up the middle of the field and set up a ruck, Carlisle retained the ball and Jak Quinn took it on and sent a long miss pass to Finn Baraclough who scored in the corner. A really pleasing combination of power and passing, which received a round of applause from all the parents.

Percy Park scored the next two tries to bring the score to 25 - 15 but Stan powered over and scored a try at the end of the quarter to bring the score to 30 – 15.

In the final quarter Carlisle regained control. Stan scored another try after a break by James Dickson to take the score to 35 - 15. Another try was scored by Josh Hope who ripped the ball from the Percy park players in a mall and dived over the line after excellent work from Nathan Bell.. Right at the final whistle Jak Quinn scored another try to bring the final score to 50 – 15.

The match was very competitive. Carlisle showed their defensive strength with everyone making tackles and working hard to support each other. The lads were also very competitive at the breakdown and the rucking has improved again, and there were times when they played some beautiful rugby passing the ball out wide.

Overall and excellent team display with the tries spread across the team and from different styles of play.

A special “well done” to Will Garson who epitomized the teamwork spirit, playing as a forward, a centre and on the wing all in one game!
