Carlton Town chairman Mick Garton received an unexpected gift when he opened his presents on Christmas Day.

Garton was presented with a Pride of Gedling Lifetime Achievement award in November for his contribution to the Gedling community in his 20 years as Chairman of the Millers and the supporters, led by club photographer Lou Lardi, set about producing a commemorative booklet to mark the occasion.

Lardi contacted a whole host of players, managers, coaching staff, committee members and supporters as well as local councillor Nicki Brooks and former MP Vernon Coaker for contributions and the result is an impressive 33 pages packed with testimonials and photographs covering the Chairman's time at the club.

Having put together all of the material, Lardi had it printed and sent to Garton's home with strict instructions not to open until Christmas Day, which the Chairman complied with.

A huge thank you from the Supporters Club to all those who contributed and a massive thank you to Lou Lardi for taking the time to chase the contributions, organise the results and put together a fantastic document.

Most of all, well done to Mick - the award was fully deserved and it was great to see your contribution recognised by the Council. Many congratulations.

The full booklet, in two parts and in electronic form, can be downloaded here. It's well worth a read.
