A Carlton Town XI were beaten 3-1 at Gedling Miners Welfare this evening.

After a quiet opening 25 minutes the Miners took control and were three ahead by half time. Mike Emery had already made a point-blank save to deny the home side before Jack Jepson put Gedling ahead, slotting home on 33 minutes after finding himself all alone 12 yards from goal.

Josh Stevenson made it 2-0 on 41 minutes, heading home unmarked from a corner and Ollie Papworth added another a minute before the break, taking advantage of a poor goal kick go past Emery and tap home.

Abdul Cole pulled on back on the hour, running onto a Johnny White pass and steering the ball past the Miners goalkeeper, and the Millers created a couple of decent chances but there were to be no more goals.

Carlton Town squad: Mike Emery, Johnny White, Lewis Duro, A J Eni, Dean Freeman, Harrison Haynes-France, Luis Parkes, Ryan Tait, Miles Mercury, Abdul Cole, Jared Holmes, Toby Moore, Zak Hill, triallists.
