In a competitive match, the visitors looked the sharper outfit in the early stages and opened the scoring on 12 minutes. Kurt Matthews fired home from close range after the Northern League side had hit the post.

The Millers levelled on 25 minutes when Tyler Johal headed home an Aaron Opoku cross and three minutes later they took the lead. Opoku chased down a backpass forcing a poor kick from the goalkeeper. Niall Davie picked up the ball, played it right to Kyle Stovell, whose dangerous cross was met with a superb volley from Danny Elliott.

The win was sealed three minutes into the second half when Opoku latched onto a weak back pass, held off his marker, rounded the keeper and tapped home.

Carlton continue their pre-season campaign with a trip to Gedling Miners Welfare on Tuesday night.

**The planned friendly against Gresley, originally scheduled for Tuesday 6 August, has been cancelled. Gresley's Midland League campaign begins three days earlier and they have a midweek league fixture on that week.
