In a tight first half Club probably edged it but Carlton had a golden chance to score on 41 when they were awarded a harsh-looking penalty for handball. Khyle Sargent's strike however was well saved by Jordan Pierrepoint to keep the game goalless.

Carlton pushed Sheffield back after the restart and were awarded a second penalty on the hour, much to Sheffield's displeasure, when Luke Aldrich pulled at David Adegbola's shirt outside and then inside the penalty area, bringing the full back down. After a three minute delay, Nangle stepped up and fired into the corner of the net.

Alex Howes doubled the lead on 78 minutes with a fine angled volley from a Niall Davie corner to send the majority of the excellent 229 crowd into raptures.

Sheffield were awarded a penalty of their own in the third minute of six minutes added time when Felix Annan was penalised for bringing down Luke Mangham and Mangham himself made no mistake from 12 yards.

Club pushed for a leveller but Carlton held out to go fourth in the embryonic table with six points from two games.

The Millers return to action on Saturday when they entertain Maltby Main in the FA Cup Preliminary Round.
