Having started their league campaign last weekend, Carlton now head to the south bank of the Humber and the Easy Buy Stadium to face Step 5 Barton Town in the world’s oldest football cup competition, the FA Cup in the Preliminary Round. These sides last met at this stage of the same competition in August 2019 with Barton running out 3-2 winners. The Swans dispatched Carlton’s league neighbours, Loughborough Students in the extra preliminary round after a well deserved replay victory and have started well in the NCEL Premier Division unbeaten as they are after three games and sitting sixth. Lewis Stephens scored in a 1-0 victory over Frickley Athletic last weekend and Tom Waudby bagged a double midweek in the draw against Horbury Town.
Carlton kicked off the league season with an away win at Rugby Town and backed that up in their first home game of the season against Bourne in midweek so have some good form themselves with four different goal scorers across both games, they can score from anywhere. The Millers have done well in recent seasons in both FA cup competitions so will hope to secure a win here and progress into the next round.
