Having disappointingly bowed out of the FA Cup last weekend, Carlton now turn attention back to the FA Trophy. On the road again having beaten Long Eaton United on penalties in the last round, the Millers travel to Shifnal Town in what is the first ever meeting between the two sides.
After a sluggish start to their NPL West campaign with two losses, Shifnal kickstarted their season with a 3-0 against Stafford Rangers followed by three more wins and a draw before losing last weekend to Bury but they still occupy a lofty position in the division. Lewis Jarman scored the only goal of the game in the second minute as the home side beat Chasetown in their last FA Trophy outing.
Carlton dominated large parts of the FA Cup game against Matlock but once again didn’t score when they were on top. They were guilty of that in the last Trophy game as well and should’ve been out of sight at half time. Ash Chambers will carry the main goal threat but Carlton have goals in them and, although the opposition are somewhat an unknown, the visitors should have some confidence that they can progress against a fellow Step 4 side. Doubtless the hosts will think the same.
