Easter Monday allows for a local derby as Carlton welcome Grantham Town to Stoke Lane. In what will be the first of six home games in the final month of the season, Carlton know a good run of form now and luck with injuries could well be enough to earn a play off place.
These sides last met on Boxing Day in an entertaining match at the South Kesteven Sports Stadium. Carlton were 3-2 victors with goals from Lamin Manneh, Alex Hardwick and, a rare target for Marathon Man Michael Ford.
The Gingerbreads were comfortable winners in this fixture last season with a 2-0 victory and performance which many thought was one of the best seen at The Bill last year. Since then and throughout this season however, Grantham have plummeted. Staving off relegation last year with only a few games left their situation this year is desperate. Relegated to the NPL East at the end of 21/22 after ten years at Step 3, Grantham could drop to Step 5 as they occupy the drop zone and are adrift. A flicker of hope was ignited on Saturday however as they beat third from bottom Ossett 2-1 and closed the gap to safety to four points so a win here would make things very interesting at the bottom of the table.
Carlton are riding the crest of a wave having done what no other side has managed this season when they beat Stockton in Stockton on Saturday. The real key now for the Millers is to back up that result with another one here at home and keep hopes of a top five finish alive and that should make for a game with both teams going all out for victory.
