As the first week of April draws to a close, Carlton welcome Ashington to Stoke Lane. This is the Millers’ third game this week and would have been their fourth were it not for yet another postponement, away at Liversedge. Regardless, the home side come into this fixture with back to back wins from recent outings and lie seventh in the table.
Ashington have secured six wins and four draws from their sixteen away matches. They will have fond memories of the reverse fixture back in November when they dispatched Carlton 4-0 in what was their joint biggest home victory. Having been promoted to Step 4 at the end of last season, the Colliers have had a decent season and built a sound platform for next year having collected some notable wins along the way. Bridlington were swept aside with relative ease 5-2 on Easter Saturday with joint top scorers Wilson Kneeshaw and Connor Thomson both on target again. Thomson’s sixteen goals are all in the league and see him sixth in the race for the golden boot.
Carlton have only won half of their fourteen home matches but beat Grantham on Easter Monday and have plenty of opportunity to improve that record in this final month of the season. A bumper crowd is expected thanks to the Bitcoin festival also taking place on match day so home supporters will hope the extra numbers can drive the Millers on to another win.
