After an excellent start to the season and having occupied a playoff spot until match day 22, Consett have fallen away badly and look to be heading for a mid table finish this season. It was during the early throws of the season did they beat Carlton 2-1 in the reverse fixture as well as notable victories against Hebburn, Newton Aycliffe and North Ferriby.
They’ve only three wins this calendar year however, and are third bottom in the form table having lost to Brighouse midweek. This will be Consett’s final away fixture of the year and they have managed six wins on the road from the previous eighteen contests.
Ben Ramsey and Wil Shaw have done a lot of the heavy lifting in from of goal with a creditable fourteen goals apiece.
This will be Carlton’s fourth game since last Saturday so the squad will likely be used to manage the players recoveries. Two wins against Aycliffe and Ossett were halted on Thursday as the Millers lost against Liversedge. They remain in the play off spots but need something from this fixture to stay in contention of being involved in the knock outs. Home form has improved and victory here would be Carlton’s tenth at Stoke Lane this season with one more to play.
