Carlton kick off their league campaign at Rugby Town. These two sides met last season in the first round of the FA Trophy and were only separated by penalties after Carlton goalkeeper Felix Annan made the match winning save.
Whilst Carlton’s league campaign last season included a club record equaling run of fifteen games unbeaten which almost saw them sneak into the playoffs, they will know that counts for little in this new division. The Millers improved their away record during that excellent run and should be looking for three points here to get off to a good start. Unbeaten in pre season with four wins in that time, they are in decent form.
Rugby Town finished third bottom in the league last season and were saved from relegation following a reprieve. They were in competitive action last week in the extra preliminary round of the FA Cup but lost to Step 5 Coton Green, Harrison Nee grabbing the Rugby goal in a 2-1 defeat.
Home form was less than ideal for Town last season losing nine of the twenty games contested at Butlin Road but four wins and a draw in pre season should give confidence.
