As the league campaign starts to ramp back up for Carlton the games come thick and fast and after the win at the weekend against Boldmere St Michaels, the Millers travel to the 3G surface at Townsend Meadow and the home of Racing Club Warwick.
The Racers flew out of the blocks with four points in the opening two league matches but after that, the points dried up. Whilst the home side can count themselves unlucky to have not got anything from their game with Rugby Borough, conceding in the 91st minute to lose that game, there has been little to cheer for the club’s supporters as damaging losses to Bourne and Rugby Town in recent weeks left them second bottom with the worse goal difference in the division. The Racers slump was halted however, as the home side comprehensively beat Carlton’s Nottingham neighbours Basford United at the weekend. They are still second bottom but level on points with many other sides now.
Former Carlton Town fan favourite Aaron Opoku has netted half the goals the hosts have managed this season in the league and will clearly be the main goal threat if he plays. Opoku was substituted just after the half hour mark on Saturday.
Carlton secured a solid win against Boldmere St Michaels on Saturday, the Millers are unbeaten away from home so far this season with three wins in the process. Carlton have the meanest defence in the league alongside Belper. With only a win and a draw of the five home contests played, the Racers could be considered underdogs but both sides start the game with confidence following excellent weekend wins.
