Back at home in the league for the first time since the 1-0 loss to Lichfield on August 23rd, Carlton welcome newly promoted St Neots Town to Nottinghamshire.
It was that same day back in August that brought the visitor’s first win of the season after a difficult start to life at Step 4 in what was possibly the toughest run of opening fixtures having played Corby, Belper and Rugby Borough, all of whom have started this season well. A draw against Borough was backed up with a win against Coleshill and St Neots have consolidated their position with a further three wins and a draw from their nine total contests thus far. After a run of two wins they arrive here after a heavy defeat midweek just down the road at Basford. Rhys Thorpe is on target with four goals in three games including a hat trick against Coventry Sphinx.
Carlton’s home form, from the limited number played so far this year isn’t as good as it is on the road but that away form took a sizeable hit midweek as they lost 4-0, to Racing Club Warwick.
These sides are both mid table, both have thirteen points and have very little to separate them in the form table either. Both will also be smarting from 4-0 midweek losses and looking to bounce back.
These sides have only met once before, back in the opening rounds of the FA Trophy in the ill fated 2019/2020 season. Carlton won that home game 3-1 but on form at least, this weekend’s encounter should be close.
