Carlton welcome Coleshill to the Bill Stokeld having secured another three points midweek against AFC Rushden and Diamonds.
The Coleman are happier on home turf so far this year having lost five of the eight played away from Pack Meadow. After a sluggish start where they occupied the lower end of the table for some weeks, October dawned a real turn in fortunes. The last eight games in particular has seen a real turn in form, a run only bettered by Carlton in fact as Coleshill have failed to win just twice in that period. Their last win, at home against Sutton Coldfield at the weekend was their eighth this year. The Coleman are ninth but only two points outside the play offs. They continued their positive run midweek as they played in the Walsall Senior Cup against Wolverhampton Casuals and ran out 4-1 winners.
With that midweek win, Carlton opened up a bit of breathing space at the top of the table but at such an early stage of the season there’s little to read into that other than this has been a very strong run of results so far for the Millers. Eight unbeaten and five wins on the spin is the best form in the league but almost all of the wins in this recent run have been by the odd goal which goes some way to outlining the home side’s resilience as well as their ability to score. Captain Niall Davie bagged a brace on Tuesday to take his season total to six in the league. Top scorer Ash Chambers is without a goal in his last three games so is due to find the target again.
Little to separate these sides in previous head to heads. There was a rare big 5-1 win for Carlton 2023/24 season in the FA Trophy, but the Coleman got revenge in the Trophy last season with a 3-2 win. The last league fixture here was back in the 21/22 season where Carlton won 2-1, a game which also saw two red cards.
