Depending on the weather, even taking into account the all weather surface at the venue, Carlton will be facing off against Mickleover this weekend.
The hosts were relegated from the Northern Premier League alongside Carlton’s neighbours, Basford United but are making good progress towards their desired swift return. They are eighth but only a point outside the play offs. They, like Carlton have had a good October, beating Anstey, Corby and Basford in their five wins in month. A draw against free scoring Sutton Coldfield and a 1-0 defeat last time out to RC Warwick have stalled progress but all the more reason to expect a response here in front of their home support. Mickleover have only lost once at home this year in eight contests but three draws in that time too means there’s an opportunity for the Millers here potentially.
Reason to hope as Carlton have the best away record in the division and have only failed to take maximum points twice. They are though, like their hosts, looking to bounce back from a 1-0 defeat last weekend which brought to an end a run of five straight wins and eight games unbeaten. With disruption to the league schedule likely this round, if this game can proceed there’s a real chance for either side to get back to winning ways and take the initiative.
