After a superb unbeaten October so far, in which the Millers hit the top of the form table with four wins and a draw, Carlton conclude the month with a home fixture against Rugby Borough. With the postponement of the Anstey Nomads game last weekend the home side haven’t played for ten days which, given the threadbare nature of the backline in particular, presumably came as somewhat of a relief for the management.
Time to recoup over, Carlton face a stern test as they welcome Rugby Borough to Stoke Lane. Borough started the season impressively and have occupied top spot in the league a couple of times already this year, most recently as match day ten, a run which saw Manager Dave Stringer shortlisted for September Manager of the Month. October though, whilst not disastrous had limited progress with an indifferent start to the month. Surprise defeat to bottom side Bedworth United and draws against Bourne and Mickleover, the away side dropped off the pace but recovered with a win away at Sutton Coldfield but couldn’t back that up as they lost to a solitary goal against Lichfield at the weekend.
Carlton’s form has been excellent. The defeat to RC Warwick aside its been a welcome return to league action. Supporters will hope the most has been made of this break as November is already shaping up to be another busy month but the home side will be short of match sharpness and that, combined with the risk of complacency leaves this fixture wide open.
