Code of Conduct Reminder

Code of Conduct Reminder

Connor Hughes3 Mar - 12:51

Players are reminded of the Code of Conduct when representing the NWCL

Code of Conduct

Clubs, players and members are reminded they have a duty not to bring the League or the Game into disrepute under the ECB General Conduct Regulations, Code of Conduct and The Spirit of Cricket as adopted by the the NWCL and all its member clubs

Extracted for your reference:
1.3 The regulations shall be complied with by all those who participate in, or who attend at, any fixture under the jurisdiction of the League Management Committee, or in any fixture where a member club is representative of the NWCL. The regulations shall apply to any player, official or member at any club, at any level.

2.11 A participant shall be in breach of these Regulations if they commit any misconduct as set out below, which either relates to their participation in Recreational cricket and/or is of a sufficiently serious nature to justify disciplinary action being taken in relation to their participation in Recreational cricket:

(a) making an abusive, obscene, offensive or otherwise insulting comment or gesture (in any form) in relation to any other Participant or any other person:

2.14 Participants are considered responsible for any relevant posts on their social media accounts and may be in breach of the relevant Regulations for posting, repeating, commending or supporting posts or comments by others (e.g. ‘retweeting’ or ‘liking’) on social media.

A recent posting on 'North Wales Cricket News and Gossip' made an unsubstantiated accusation about a recognised member of the NWCL umpires panel referencing his role as such an official and spreading it to another league. This is very much covered by Regulations mentioned above. The posting has now been removed. 'North Wales Cricket News and Gossip' is absolutely nothing to do with North Wales Cricket League.

These regulations are not a restriction on free speech, but rather a desired way of behaving in a community of adults and children who want to play an amateur sport in a safe and respectful environment. Which is what we all want.

Think twice about posting and sharing.
