Victory for current players by 40 runs

Carmel's Present XI beat the club's Past XI by 40 runs to secure their first win in the fixture since 2017.

Skipper Danny Owens won the toss and his decision to bat first was vindicated after the Present XI posted a commanding 188-6 from their allotted 35 overs.

Ryan Roberts (53*retd) and Dafydd Bailey (50*) both showed fine form with the bat while Henry Davies (17), Ieuan Jones (16), Tom Owen (12) Matt Isgar (11) chipped in with some useful runs.

Stephen Skates led the way with the ball for the Past XI after an impressive spell of just 2-8 from five overs.

Bryn Morgan (1-23), Lee Rowles (1-27), Daniel Oliver (1-38) and Oliver Saynor (1-7) all finished with one wicket apiece.

Owens (1-29) and Jones (2-15) removed openers Oliver (10) and Morgan (2) to get the Present XI off to a fine start in the field after the interval.

However, Gareth Williams (38) and Past XI skipper Andy Skates (18) rallied for the ex-players before an inspired change by Owens saw the rarely-used slow bowling of Bailey (2-14) dismiss both men.

Jonny Hunter (34) proved stubborn before he fell victim to Jack Whitehouse (1-19).

The Past XI still had hope with wicketkeeper Mark Bland (13*) and Saynor at the crease for the last wicket, but Connor Hughes (2-14) snaffled the latter cheaply to bowl the old boys out for 148 in the 30th over.
