This saturday sees the big games continue as we venture into our first cup final for a few seasons. We will be travelling to Rochdale to face the league champions of 4 West - Capenhurst RUFC. This is the first time a Carnforth team has made the finals day in the Merit Leagues and we look forward to a great day out which will no doubt be superbly hosted by the Rochdale Club. Our last final was a few seasons ago when we were still in the RFU Leagues - a narrow one point defeat at the hands of West Park St Helens in the Lancashire Bowl - we still have a few players with memories off that day.
The final of the Shield pits the league winners from 4 North against the league winners from 4 West which should make for a great spectacle for all watching. We lost two games (on the field) during the season way back in September with Chorley and Blackburn taking 4 points from us - however Capenhurst have gone through the entire league season with a 100% record - a tremendous feat and we congratulate them on their excellent season. We have come up against two of their league rivals in Liverpool Collegiate and Anselmians - both these clubs speak highly of Capenhurst.
Confidence in both camps should be high after their respective league title successes and a good game is anticipated by the leagues committee. We will be the first game on show with two more games following our main event.
We look forward to meeting up with the Capenhurst contingent and having a beer or two after the game.
Carnforth - please attend training this Wednesday evening - 630 on the pitches.
Carnforth - saturday - please do not be late - also club tie and white shirt (club shirt if possible).
