A good weekend for the youth teams with four of the five eleven a side teams claiming cup wins in the South Belfast Youth league. The Under 14s booked themselves a semi final place after a win against Immaculata, a win that extended their unbeaten run to ten games in all competitions! The Under 15s matched the 14s achievement when they too booked a semi final spot with a 1-0 win over Premier Div side, Ards Rangers. The U13s ran out 2-0 winners over SOPFC with the Under 12s enjoying a win over 18th Newtownabbey in their cup competition.
Friday night SSGs continued for the U7s, 8s and 9s at the Ballymena IFA SSGs at the Showgrounds with the U11s in East Antrim GDC SSGs up at the Valley LC. Under 9s and 10s were once again up at Coleraine Uni enjoying taking part in the Harry Gregg Foundation Youth League
FOOTBALL DEVELOPMENT CENTRE
The seventh session of ten of the clubs Football Development Centre took place on Saturday morning at St Louis Grammar School sports grounds in glorious sunshine sponsored by Robinsons NISA Supermarket, Cullybackey Road, Ballymena. The centre caters for children born in the years 2012, 2013 and 2014 and as part of the clubs sponsorship with McDonald’s restaurant the 2013 age group were treated to a free lunch as 'Team of the Month' for March.
The children are learning the footballing basics whilst preparing to take part on the 18th May in the Ballymena Invitational Mini Soccer League which kicks off at the Showgrounds. The centre is now closed for prospective candidates and any potential new applicants should reply to club notices in August for a permanent place.
