Carniny put in a top class display at Ballymena Showgrounds 3G on Friday night to defeat Belfast side Newhill two goals to one but easily could have won by more. The first half was a tight affair and mid way through the first period the visitors took the lead following a corner. Carniny missed several chances rushing their opportunities when calmness was needed.
The second half saw Carniny step up a gear and when the home side equalised with a goal hammered home by Moody there was only going to be one winner. The Carniny defence looked solid with keeper Elliott always secure, sweeper Duff in command and defenders Jess, Martin and Logan in control. The midfield had Peacock and Wright busy and Graham always dangerous in attack. Graham looked like scoring with his head from a Moody cross before he did score what proved to be the winner picking up on a long clearance to outrun his marker to fire home with minutes to spare.
