GREAT COMEBACK FROM ALL BLACKS TO SHARE THE POINTS

From the kick off the home team took the game to Carniny and thanks to some static defending took an early lead with low shot into the bottom corner. A second goal followed soon after for St Patrick's after more lack lustre defending. It was all one way traffic as St Patrick's continued to put Carniny under pressure and were passing the ball about unchallenged. Goal number 3 for St Patrick's came after a sloppy back pass saw keeper Colby Davidson quickly closed down and his attempted clearance cannoned off the St Patrick's striker gifting him a simple tap in. Davidson was being kept busy in the Carniny goal and after some fine saves conceded again to see Carniny go into the half time break trailing 4 nil.

After some very strong words and a few home truths from their coaches Carniny showed their intent from the restart and finally started to play football and compete in the game. Some lovely passing through the middle saw the ball reach young Ben McCormick on the 18 yard box who turned and fired the ball into the bottom corner to pull a goal back. Carniny continued to attack and goal of the game (and possibly the season) saw left back Josh Rainey hit a first time strike from just inside the opposition half which flew into the top corner. Tackle of the match from Carniny’s Sam Percy set captain Tyler Boyd off down the right wing whose solo run was finished by slotting the ball into the bottom left to make it 4-3. Some great defending from Cora Henderson and Harvey Mills saw a rare second half attack from St Patrick's thwarted. More fine play on the left from Carniny’s Tyler Barr who ran his socks off saw the ball eventually find Ben McCormick who stabbed the ball into the net to complete an amazing comeback and send the two coaches bouncing along the sideline to celebrate.
A final sting in tail was narrowly avoided when keeper Colby Davidson saved a shot from 6 yards out in the dying minutes of the match with the ball being cleared off the toe of the on coming attacker by Cora Henderson.

Final whistle was blown soon after and the match ended 4-4.What a game and comeback from the young Carniny team!
