After a series of matches where results did not reflect performances the 2007s finally got their season started with a hard fought 3-2 win against Bertie Peacocks. They started well but struggled on a poor surface to get their flowing game going, however neither team created many clear chances. A few injuries saw the wee reds having to change players around and Peacocks scored with a speculative effort which deflected into the Carniny net to lead 1-0 at half time.
In the second half they were awarded a free kick and the keeper was unable to hold Reuben Burnett's free and Charly Gregg pounced on the rebound 1-1. Carniny continued to apply pressure and made more changes and made it 2-1 when Ben Harte cut in from the left to score. Carniny tails were up and more pressure saw Gregg get a second after his shot was deflected past the Peacocks keeper 3-1. Peacocks rallied and managed to score a second but Carniny created several more chances and held on for a well deserved 3-2 win
