The U15s booked themselves a place in the SBYL Sup Cup Final with a 5-1 win over Antrim Rovers

The Carniny boys went into this semi-final match against an opponent they never beat last season. However, they were fired up and ready for a good semi-final game. Carniny started the game hot and heavy against the rovers, and their non-stop persistence paid off on the 4th min when Kennedy played a great ball down the wing to Blair who went past several players and put a pin point cross into Farenden in the box who volleyed home from 6 yards. Carniny pressed hard and high for the full 35mins of the first half with shots from Clarke and Blair coming close but just couldn’t find the Rovers net again. This was evident as the Carniny keeper Nathanael Hanna never had a shot to deal with the whole first half.

The second half started identical to the first when Young went past several players with brilliant footwork and played a ball to Dallas who rifled into the bottom corner from 20yards out on the 39th min. The Carniny defence of Devine, Dael, Kelly, and Duddy kept any form of attack away from the Carniny keeper. A great Farenden corner which was laid off to the edge of the box to Kennedy who drove the ball past the Rovers keeper from 25 yards out on the 50th min. The wee reds then made a few changes and McCaughey almost scored as soon as he came on from the edge of the box. However, it would be another Carniny sub David Hanna who coolly slotted home on the 65min from a Blair cross. The Rovers couldn’t cope with the passing from the Carniny boys of Dallas, Young, Hanna, Kennedy, and McCaughey. And it was from a fantastic passing move that Dallas hit another wonder strike from 25yards past the Rovers keeper. The Rovers did score on the last kick off the game for a consolation goal. Carniny now set themselves up for a Cup final at Seaview at Christmas.
