FRIDAY NIGHT WIN IN THE RAIN FOR 14s

On a wet Friday night in Belfast Carniny shone bright. From the outset the wee reds were getting the ball down and working hard. The break through came when Marcus Rodgers picked up the ball, laying a beautiful ball into Kenzie Meharg who cut it back on the edge of the box for Billy Bell to fire high the into top corner. Carniny dominated with dangerous overlaps and selfless runs from Mark Faulkner.

The second half started and Carniny kicked on and kept a lot more possession with dynamic width coming from Sam Percy and Kenzie Meharg. Eventually Carniny got their reward with a penalty. Marc Faulkner stepped up to a place a firm strike past the keeper. Rosario sent men pouring forward at this stage but Josh Rainey in the Carniny goal dealt with any threat when it came his way. Carniny didn’t stop, they pressed for more and missed a few chances. As the game drew to a close up stepped Billy Bell with a contender for goal of the season, mazy little dribble, 25 yards out and the ball curled into the far corner.
