AMATEURS THROUGH ON PENALTY SHOOT OUT

Carniny never really looked settled in this game, only playing in spells and Whiteabbey started well in the first ten mins. It was Carniny that broke the deadlock on 15 mins when Barry Simpson floated a cross come shot in from the right to give Carniny the lead. The Amateurs had a few chances in front of goal but all efforts seemed to be straight at the Whiteabbey keeper. Whiteabbey then had a man sent off just on the stroke of half time.

Whiteabbey came out fast in the second half with Juraj Malik pulling off a super save to deny them an equaliser. Carniny then began to get a grip of the game playing some neat passing football but Whiteabbey did get their equaliser on 61 mins with a neat long range lob over the Carniny keeper. Worse was to come for Carniny when Whiteabbey scored again from a corner on 71 mins. Carniny then pressed to get back into the game with various chances for Adam Whitehurst and Jake Armstrong all being stopped by the keeper and an effort from Dean Surgenor going close. The equaliser did come from Adam Whitehurst on 83 mins when he was fed in with a super pass from Kamil Miehurski. No more goals saw the match go into extra time.

The pace dropped a little in extra time with Dean Surgenor seeing what he thought was the winner, come back off the post after beating the keeper. Whiteabbey had a chance themselves with Craig Greene on hand to head off the line.
After extra time ended goalless, then came the penalties with Davy Hanna, Barry Simpson, Emmet Long and Kamil Miehurski all successfully converting their spot kicks to see Carniny win the shoot out 4-2.
