The Amateurs were up against it right from the start in this match when they had a player dismissed only 10 mins in for deliberate hand ball. Although the visitors couldn’t convert from the spot they did break the deadlock when two minutes later a defensive error let a Rangers man through to slot past Watt at his near post. They went on to score again two mins later. Carniny had a couple of chances themselves from free kicks and two close headers from Davy Hanna but didn’t convert and Grange scored again on 33 mins.
The Amateurs came out more determined second half but fell to an early own goal only 6 mins after the restart. Captain Ricky Hanna was leading by example along with Lee McCallion and Davy Hanna in midfield, showing great commitment as was 16 year old Jaworski, drafted in at left back. Try as they might they couldn’t get back into the game with youth team player, Kyle Beggs having a thankless task up front as the lone striker. Davy Hanna had another headed chance near the end but again failed to find the net with the Amateurs exiting the cup at the final whistle.
