The Amateurs were hit with two early goals in this game, where they can feel aggrieved that decisions did not go their way in the build up to the goals. However they did reduce the deficit on 10 mins when Ricky Hanna floated a lovely 30 yard free kick out of reach of the keeper high into the top corner from the right flank. This buoyed the Ballymena men as they continually pressed the opposition and were back in the game and had a couple of chances themselves. However they conceded a goal two mins before the break when Aquinas fired in an unstoppable shot from the left flank.

As the second half began Aquinas scored their fourth on 58 mins and although Carniny kept battling to the end the opposition went on to score a further three. In the end the Amateurs played out the game with ten men due to injuries. A disappointing day not helped with late squad pull outs.
