The Amateurs got off to another flying start in this game courtesy of Scott Buxton who dispossessed an Antrim midfielder, drove towards the goal and fired one past the visitors keeper only two mins into the game. Atletico were quick with a reply on 9 mins when a slip up down the left flank let their winger in to cross into the Carniny Box, with a striker on hand to glance the ball past Barr in the Carniny goal. The visitors began to put pressure on the home side and hit the post on one occasion with Adam Barr also pulling off a couple of finger tip saves over the bar to keep the scores level. Then two minutes before the break, probably against the run of play Scott Buxton was on hand again, winning the ball on the edge of the box and curling a delightful shot into the top corner to see Carniny lead 2-1 at the break.
Adam Barr was on hand again early in the second half when he turned a low shot round the post just 3 minutes into the half as the visitors tried to get back into the game but the defensive four of Scroggie, Surgenor, Heron and White held firm to see off the challenges. As the Antrim sides pace seemed to drop in the second half Carniny were trying to increase their lead to finish the game off. Danny McComb was causing problems down the right and side and went close we he weaved in from the wing into the box for a shot but couldn't set himself up to get enough power into beat the keeper. 2-1 was the way it was to finish with a pleasing win for the Amateurs on the day.
