It was Cushendall who opened the scoring in this game when five mins in they slipped down their left flank to send a cross into the Carniny box which was duly converted from close range to make it 1-0 to the visitors. Carniny replied five mins later after good work from Benji Agnew down the left flank saw him find Barry Simpson who scored from close range to bring the game even. From there it was a fairly even affair until Callum McGall played a clever lob over the Cushendall defence finding Benji Agnew who added a further flick over the keepers head to see Carniny take the lead. Seven minutes later saw Kevin Coogan turn his man with a through ball going on to slot past the Cushendall keeper giving Carniny a two goal advantage at the break.
Carniny were fastest out of the blocks in the second half when two mins after the restart Darren McCormick played a neat through ball to Benji Agnew to score his second of the game and Carniny’s fourth. Dean Dunlop had an immediate impact on entering the game when Barry Simpson crossed in from the right to find Dunlop in the box on the hour mark. Two minutes later Dunlop found the net again this time supplied by Agnew to make it six for the Carniny men. Cushendall continued to get the ball forward but with McCormick and Taggart breaking up their play they were finding it difficult to find a way through. Dean Surgenor completed the scoring for Carniny finding himself free at the back post. Again Cushendall tried to get through towards the end but the defensive pair of Heron and White kept the scoreline at 7-1 for the Carniny men until the final whistle.
