This was always going to be a close game between two teams vying for position in the final games of the season.
Carniny took time to settle into this game and it was Southside who had the edge in the early stages and took the lead when an unmarked man was left free at the backpost from a corner, nodding home to open the scoring on 20 mins. Carniny however responded 10 mins later when Benji Agnew curled a sweet shot into the top left hand corner of the net to draw the game level. Southside then took the lead again when a looping shot ended up in the Carniny net. Four minutes later the scores were level again when Dean Dunlop chested down a cross from the left flank to swing round and hit it a sweet shot on the volley into the Southside goal.
The second half started in much the same vein with neither side prepared to give an inch in the game. Then on 75 mins Southside earned themselves a penalty which they converted to give them the lead. Carniny then began to play some neat football taking the game to Southside and hit the bar on two occasions and saw a Dean Dunlop shot crash off the bar and appear to go over the line but it wasn't awarded with the ref not able to make the call from his position. Carniny pushed in the final stages desperate to draw level and had a decent shout for a penalty but it wasn't to be as Southside ran out winners to move into an automatic promotion spot.
An entertaining game for the neutral with both sides giving 100% in the match,
