Both teams in this match were looking to get their first league wins of the season.

An experienced division one Moylena side took the game to Carniny in the opening stages and forced a couple of early corners in the opening minutes. It was from one of these that they took the lead when Aodhan Tolan in the Carniny goal saved an initial header only to lose control and a Moylena forward was on hand to poke home from a yard out seven minutes in. The Antrim men continued to press forward and Carniny caught them on the break with Declan Higgins playing James Price through for him to race into the Moylena half and slot past the visiting keeper to bring the scores level on twenty minutes. Carniny began to get a foothold in the game with Darren McCormick and Gary Taggart battling well in midfield and looked dangerous on the break with Johnston and Doherty on the flanks. It was through David Johnston that they scored their second as he broke on the left wing and worked his way through the visitors defence to fire home on 34 mins. They added to their lead just on the stroke of half time when James Price who had been causing all sorts of problems up top was bundled over in the box and captain Kevin Coogan stepped up to convert the resultant penalty kick to give the home side a two goal cushion at the break.

The second half saw Moylena press the young Carniny side as they tried to keep them pinned back in their half with the wind on their backs. Carniny were still looking dangerous on the break as Moylena committed men forward but any chances were squandered with wayward shots. The pressure eventually worked for the visitors as they pulled a goal back with 15 mins on the clock and Carniny rode their luck on a couple of occasions with the woodwork denying the Antrim men a couple of times. The back four of McComb, Dunlop, White and Higgins did however hold firm as the game ran down and Carniny added gloss to the scoreline with a goal right at the end with Kevin Coogan getting his second of the game to make it 4-2 to the home side at full time.
