There was little in the game in the first half with both sides having an even share of the play but three mins from the interval Niall McGarry put his hand out to deny a Raceview goal and was dismissed. Carniny however got a reprieve when the Raceview player glanced his shot off the outside of the post. 0-0 half time.
15 mins into the second half Raceview made their break through when the Carniny keeper found himself stranded with Raceview’s Stefan Calderwood taking advantage looping a high ball into the Carniny net. From here on in Carniny played some neat passing football trying for an equaliser but their ten men couldn’t find a way through. Five mins from time Raceview should have sealed the game when they were awarded another penalty after Barry Hamill fouled a Raceview player on his way to goal after catching them on the break and was duly sent to the changing rooms. But the same Raceview player stepped up and repeated his miss exactly from the first penalty. Carniny’s nine men held on to the final whistle when it finished 1-0 to the Broughshane lads.
