There was little between the two teams in the first half with Carniny looking frustrated and under par all over the pitch, struggling to cope with the East Antrim side who were playing some neat football themselves. As a result it was the Mossley lads who took the lead first when they netted straight from a corner just three mins from the break.
Carniny came out brighter after the restart taking the game to Mossley who were still looking dangerous on the counter attack. The Ballymena lads were finding it hard to break down their opponents whose keeper was on top form all day but just when it looked as if time was running out a neat little lob over the defence from Ryan McCartney put Dean Magill through on goal who made no mistake in bringing the scores equal with 10 mins remaining. This was enough to lift the Ballymena ‘Reds’ as they began to pile on the pressure and Jordan Graham scored the winner 4 mins later after being set up by Ciaran McGarry to see them through to the second round.
