‘Martin started brightly and had bounced one off the Carniny cross bar only two mins in. They continued to look dangerous in attack in the early stages but the game soon evened out as the half progressed. Carniny were showing some neat passing all over the field but were finding it difficult to beat Desertmartin’s offside trap and a resolute defence.
The second half was much of the same with Carniny keeper sTEPHEN McNeilly pulling off a good save, pushing the ball on to the cross bar to keep the scores level. Carniny were always attacking but time after time found themselves on the wrong side of offside decisions denying them any attempts on goal. Then on 76 mins Desertmartin played the ball across and over the top of the Carniny defence for their left winger to finish well at the near post. The Amateurs pressed for an equaliser in the closing stages but still couldn’t break down the defence and once again finding themselves on the wrong side of offside decisions seeing Desertmartin taking the points at the whistle.
