Carniny U9’s caused the biggest upset of the season when they beat the league leaders on Saturday 1-0. The Coleraine team had been unbeaten until they met a determined young Carniny side. Even at 0-0 at halftime Carniny could not have expected such a result. Ten minutes from the end Cameron Stewart came up with the winner when he coolly slotted the ball past the goalkeeper after a through ball from Jake White. It was backs to the wall then for the last 10 minutes. Sterling defending from Adam Lamont, Dillon Young and man of the match Craig Farquhar kept the opposition as bay. Jacob Logan was outstanding in goals and pulled off some amazing saves at the end to seal the win. Joshua Gordon deserved a special mention for his solid tackling in midfield and Scott Hunter for working tirelessly as a lone striker.
