Lock Lane sneaked a victory on the last tackle of the game to continue their good fortune in 2016. Dockers scored 2 converted tries in the opening 17 minutes to take advantage of a sluggish and disorganised display from the hosts. Captain Chris Siddons was sinbinned for punching on 19 minutes along with a Dockers player that took exception to a tackle. On 29 minutes, a pass from Lane centre Jimmy Cryer released the supporting Mikey Hayward who fed wing Adam Garlick to score in the corner and it remained 12-4 until halftime. Early in the 2nd period Cryer recovered a Lane interception on the Dockers tryline to dive over. Scrum half Danny Rowse kicked the conversion to leave Lane 2 points behind at 12-10. But the home side continued their patchy display and Dockers took advantage of sloppy defence to extend their lead with a converted try 3 minutes later to leave the home side adrift at 18-10. However, the gamebreaker occurred in the 60th minute as Dockers 2nd row Jon Eccles was dismissed for a reckless high tackle on Cryer in full flight. Lane used the numerical advantage in the final twenty minutes left to tire the visitors out, despite a series of errors in attack. Australian 2nd row Royce Geoffrey scored his first try for the club after an angled run in the 67th minute, to which Rowse added the extras. Lane desperately tried everything in the final 10 minutes but victory seemed unlikely after a disjointed showing in attack. In the final minute, they went 60 yards in 5 tackles before a speculative punt from stand off Nathan Fozzard found Siddons in space near the line and he dived over to score to great relief from the home support. Rowse converted and Lane had committed daylight robbery on the Hull side.
Best for Lane were Royce Geoffrey, Mikey Hayward and Chris Siddons
