Seconds Hit Exiles For Six

The Seconds welcomed Aberystwyth Exiles 2nds to Pontcanna Plying Fields looking to halt their recent form where they have shipped 17 goals in losing their last two games.

After a cagey opening where both teams struggled to asset any dominance, it was the Cons who broke the deadlock when a Kyle Ellis free kick from the left was headed across goal by Matthew Bennett for Dominic Richards to bundle the ball home from close range.

On the half hour following a good run down the right hand flank by Lee Hamilton, he was able to cross for striker Anthony Davis to score his first goal for the Club since his signing at the end of last year.

The Exiles struck back a minute later to reduce the deficit to one. However, four minutes later Davis superbly brought down an Exiles clearance from defence and shot at goal, his shot was blocked but fell to Lewis Cooil who was able to fire home. Davis capped a great first half performance when, a minute later, he won the ball and fed Lloyd Chidlow in the inside left channel. Chidlow was able to advance and as the keeper challenged him, he was able to slide the ball around him and saw it curve just inside the far post to register his first strike for the Club.

The Exiles grabbed a further goal just before the break when a long range shot looped over Berian Morgan in the Cons goal, to make the score 4-2 at the break.

With five replacements on the side line Manager, Rob Baldock, was in the unusual position of bringing on fresh legs just before the hour. One of these changes made an immediate impact when, with his first touch, Alex Older was able to find Davis who was able to double his tally for the game. The scoring for the day was completed when a Cons corner was headed home by an Exiles defender, as he tried to clear the ball from under the cross bar.

Baldock made two further changes with twenty minutes to go when he was able to bring on Luke Graham and give recent signing Cei Edwards his Club debut, as they replaced the effective Richards and Davis.
