Some very positive signs yesterday v Old Pastonians, despite losing 3-1 we went 1 up and should really have been out of sight before their comeback, defensively we were very busy against a very mobile forward line and sadly undone at least twice with the long punt behind us.
That said with a few defeats we are low on confidence and it effects the whole team, at 1 up we lacked that confidence to believe it was enough and they sensed that and grew in to the game. Go 2 or 3 up and that is then putting the arguing and problems firmly in their camp.
Yesterday saw 3 new players made very positive debuts and with more games and fitness they will add competition and quality to the squad.
So what can we take from yesterday:
· Good passages of play where we passed the ball well, forward, backwards and across the line
· Pacey attacks where we caused a lot of problems for OP down the left in early exchanges
· Created a plethora of chances to easily win the game
· Good warm up, stretch and touch routines before the game helped in match play
Where can we improve:
· Must take our chances when they come
· Back 4 and keeper need to work on defending the long ball and a compact unit
· See the oppositions weakness and exploit it
