10 man Carterton u17s beat Summertown 10-5 in Oxford Invitation League Fixture

Hat Tricks for Dylan Butler and George Wright

Carterton started strong with an early goal from George Wright scoring direct from a corner on 3mins. The away team continued to play in Summertown's half with 4 chances not being converted. Then against the run of play Summertown broke away and scored to equalise. However on the 28th min Byron Townsend ghosted around to the back post to score form a few yards out from a whipped in cross from George Wright . Carterton were now in control and a neat move involving four players gave Dylan Butler a simple tap in to score in the 42nd minute. Jay Hayden came on for Sam Hartley and scored a minute before half time to let Carterton go in on the half time break 4-1 up. Tom Gray came on for Marcus Owsnett in the second half and Joe Langford for Matthew Waite. However Joe Langford was given a red card after only being on the pitch for a short time for dissent after an argument with the referee putting Carterton down to 10 men. Summertown came back into the game with the extra man scoring twice but another goal from Jay Hayden maintained the lead by the visitors. Despite the tireless work from Carterton's Byron Townsend in midfield Summertown started attacking in numbers and again scored. putting pressure on the visitors. Then the trickery of Man of the Match George Wright saw him secure a well deserved hat trick with two quick fire goals on the 62nd and 63rd minute. Carterton were now coasting With Dylan Butler also scoring in the 73rd and 79th min. This being his second hat trick in two games. Finally a late goal in the dying minutes from Marcus Owsnett secured a well deserved win. Carterton go into a local derby at home to Charlbury next week with confidence high.
