Carterton travelled to Malmesbury for their quarter final game on Sunday .
Carterton losing their keeper due to injury on the morning of the game and were down to 10 players.
The first half plan for Carterton was to sit back and counter attack .A great start from Carterton gaining a corner in the first minute but it came to nothing .
Malmesbury had a lot of possession but a well organised Carterton team reduced Malmesbury to long shots which Jake who had stepped in for Brandon looked comfy with.
Carterton took the lead in the 16th minute with George flicking the ball on to Max who went around the keeper and from a acute angle hit a unstoppable shot in to the roof of the netfor his 18th goal in all comps.
Carterton nearly made it 2 when the ref got his "colours wrong" the ref awarded a right full free kick against carterton just inside their own half then as we are setting up to defend gave it to us a quick thinking George played max through and hit the bar off their keeper a corner should have resulted but he brought it back and gave them a free kick. "strange"
Then with 8 min's left of the first half Daniel got injured and had to come off.

Second half saw Carterton again well organised and looking good on the counter . With the fitness levels dropping and Daniel back on but struggling Malmesbury switched and attacked down the left hand side and with 19 mins left they struck and equalised.
Carterton then became disjointed and Malmesbury gained a pen again attacking down the left. Jake pulling off a finger tip save to keep it at 1-1 . Again Malmesbury came again this time winning a free kick on the edge of the box something we had talked about before the game as they have a dead ball expert . True to form he hit a unstoppable shot in to the top corner.
A change in shape saw Charlie and louis C get more on the ball and a great pass from Charlie put Louis in one on one with the keeper who saved at his feet. The keeper then throw it out to the left and they counter attacked us and the ball was played across our box and leaving a tap in.
Again Carterton changed shape with 2 at the back and Jake coming out of goal as a attacker and Andy taking the gloves. Two more chances came but Carterton could not get back.
Carterton boys can be proud of the way they played and were 19 mins away from a semi final .
With the smallest squad in the league after two boys left and 4 new players in this season all though disappointed to go out its a good achievement in a small space of time .
