On Sunday 9th of September the u15s started their new campaign with an away trip to new side Abingdon Utd blue ,
Abingdon were the most talked about side over the close season , and have accumulated a strong squad !
Carterton dominated the early play , spending what seemed an age in the blues half but without finding a breakthrough!
Eventually the pressure told and a neat interchange between skipper dan Lovick and new signing fin baker saw dan burst into the box and calmly finishto put the yellows 1 up .
Not long after the same duo combined again in almost a carbon copy to double the lead !
This rallied the home side and harry Rawle made two exceptional saves to insure we made it to half time two goals to the good !
The second half followed a similar path although clear cut chances were few and far between, Harvey fin and Jacob all had half chances but couldn’t convert, Abingdon’s best chance came close to the end when their giant striker burst through only for Corey to bravely smother at his feet !
It ended 2-0 to Carterton, in what was a high quality game , in which to good sides cancelled each other out for large parts , and from a Carterton point of view it was great to see a battling tough performance from the boys after a disjointed pre season !
