Great 3-0 win today for Carterton U15s at Quarry Rovers to secure the league title

Champions!

The u15s travelled to oxford this morning to face Quarry Nomads , knowing that a victory would win them the title.
With joe Jacob dan and Craig unable to play , the squad was a bit thin on the ground .
Add to this that Frankie was unwell and Ollie was having trouble walking after a hard going D of E trip . It looked like a tough day ahead !

Scott and mike asked the boys to start quickly and straight from kick off Regan broke down the left and hit a shot goal bound , it was met by a great save from the quarry keeper !
The yellows continued to spend a lot of time in the opposition half and Mercayd Allen was next to fire at goal , again resulting in another outstanding save from the home keeper !
More pressure followed and a few more pot shots , but two more fantastic saves saw the yellows denied!
As the half wore on quarry fashioned a couple of great chances , both coming from silly free kicks needlessly given away by Carterton players , the first one should really have been buried and the second one hitting the bar !
The teams went in at half time level at nil nil !

The half time discussion was all about being more positive and continually delivering balls into the box from wide areas !
Almost from our first possession of the half Regan whipped in a nice cross from the left ,the defender half cleared only for Jamie Staddon to coolly slot the ball home !
The yellows continued to dominate the second period and the second goal come from a well worked move culminating in a great headed finish from Casey Groves! 2-0 !
Most of the times Quarry got around our box were our own doing , either poor passes or more silly free kicks giving away possession, on most occasions the ultra tight back four of Harvey Nichol, Ollie Peters, Mason Thomas, and jack fletcher dealt admirably with, and on the one occasion they got in keeper Harry Rawle rushed out to snub the danger with a great 1 on 1 save !
There was time for one more goal , the Duracell bunny that is Fin Baker went in a run and passed to Frankie Comley , who, looked to shoot but instead slipped the ball into Corey Kelly, who turned smartly and rifled a vicious drive into the top corner!

The boys were shattered but showed great spirit and desire to get the job done , to retain the a-league title they won last season !
