The u15s hosted Abingdon Blues in a first v second clash at Kilkenny Lane today !
As expected it was an extremely hard fought encounter, and played at a thunderous pace .
Both teams created few chances in a cagey first half the most notable came when the blues keeper saved well from half chances from mercayd Allen , Casey Groves, Dan Lovick and fin baker ! And Carterton keeper Corey Kelly tipping a low Abingdon drive round the post at full stretch ! Nil nil at half time !

The second half saw the yellows spend large periods in the Abingdon half but were struggling to break down a stubborn defence , but kicking with the wind were forcing lots of corners!
And it was from one of these that the deadlock was broken, Abingdon failed to clear and the ever dangerous Mason Thomas coolly curved home a great finish with the outside of his right boot ! This proved to be the winner !
Abingdon were still dangerous on the counter and a brave save from second half keeper Harry Rawle at the feet of the leagues top scorer secured the points . The boys worked tirelessly against a top opposition but deserved their slender victory on the balance of play !

The win means the have secured runner up spot , and one win out of their last two matches will see them retain their championship!
