Hard game !
The u15s hosted Didcot casuals and were up against it , with mason and Casey playing for Oxford City in the county cup , Frankie,Alfie, and joe injured we only had 12 available, and Regan and xander had been ill during the week !
Didcot were also low on numbers , and had to start with 10 as one of their cars had a breakdown on route to the game .
The first half was predominantly played in the Didcot half , but the visitors banked up well and restricted Carterton’s chances and any we did create were met by some top goal keeping, which meant the teams went in at the break with the score at nil nil !
The home team were told in no uncertain terms that the first half was ‘sloppy’ and ‘lacking in tempo’ , the second half saw Didcot back up to full numbers , but Carterton started well , moving the ball quicker and moving off the ball with more purpose!
After a decent bit of pressure the deadlock was broken , although somewhat fortuitously, skipper dan Lovick rifled ashor from 20 yards , which although was initially on target , took a wicked deflection over the stranded keeper .
Number two soon came from the left boot of the industrious Harvey-jay Nichol, again benefiting from a deflection .
Corey Kelly (one of our keepers) then got the third , latching on to a rebound from a saved shot !
Didcot did get a consolation, from a well worked free kick , but Carterton ran the clock down to get the three points !
Not one of the u15s best performances but fair play to the boys for mucking in (both goalies played spells on pitch) and Regan playing centre forward, left midfield, right midfield and left back at various points of the match .
Special thanks to nick truman (And Glynn) for providing us with our superb pitch , it played fantastically well considering the amount of rain we’ve had recently!
