As we see out 2020, a year to forget for football, we can at least be positive with our recent results.
We had a hard-fought game at the ARK Fleetech Stadium with Prestwich Heys were a 1-1 draw was a fair result.
This was followed by a 5-goal thriller at league leaders Bury AFC. After going 2 goals up we just couldn’t hold out and lost to a late penalty.
This shows we are more than capable of holding our own when we are on it. We must remember that most of the squad is new to the club and the league and with a new management team. This on top of the relentless stop start for everyone and no budget, it gives us confidence we are on the right path.
Off the field the clubs committee and volunteers have been working extremely hard to provide a safe place for staff, players and spectators in what has been very difficult circumstances.
We have also had major ground improvements going on with a new stand roof and rear facia, at the Broadway side, to improve safety and security.
By far the biggest undertaking has been the club house extension. As many of you will have seen by now the extension is impressive, albeit incomplete at this stage. It will provide a fantastic viewing area for spectators and sponsors as well as help to fulfil our longer-term goal of having a large function and business/event room.
The extension also incorporates a new area for wheelchair users who can enjoy the game under cover and from an elevated position and a new physio room and female officials changing area.
This has all been possible through many hours of hard work to find funding and the commitment to visualise the future of the club for all sections from Junior to Senior.
We hope to continue the hard work and continue to improve the whole facility and we thank you for your support.
So, from everyone at Chadderton FC we wish you a very happy new year and let’s hope 2021 brings us back to happier times.
Up The Chadd!!
