Chadds played host to Howe Bridge Mills who are always a competitive outfit and who have had mixed results so far this season. Chadds started well and almost took the lead when Neal Sissons raced through though his firm drive was well saved by the keeper. Soon after a good break down the left by Darren Gully resulted in a cross that was converted by Darren Hoolican only for it to be ruled out for offside. HBM then got more into the game and had the better of the latter stages of the half.
After the interval Chadds again started on the front foot and took the lead after 5 minutes when full back Chris Mellor cut in from the right and scored with a deflected shot. Chadds then had several chances to increase the lead but these were wasted. As in the first half HBM came back into the game but the defence held firm. Adam Duxbury had a good chance to seal the result but the keeper made a great save. The last 10 minutes were played in a downpour and HMB laid siege to the Chadds goal but excellent defending kept the lead in tact and Chadds won a very hard fought game. The whole team fought hard and hopefully can take this from into the coming weeks.
