Chalvey WMC Sports F.C

The Stabmonks were founded in 1885 and apart from a brief break in the early 1980’s Derek Macklin reformed the club in 1986.

In the early days Chalvey used to play in the Great Western Combination although little is known about the clubs progress back then.

From 1950 up until the early 1990’s, Chalvey competed in the now defunct Slough & District League & over that time period the club registered several wins in various senior cup competitions including The Slough Town Senior Cup and The Norfolkian Senior Cup.

In the 1980’s the club were based in the Garibaldi Pub in Chalvey. After a change in landlord, the football club moved to Chalvey Working Men’s Club and we then added the W.M.C. to the club name for sponsorship reasons.

The Slough & District League folded after the end of the 1991/92 season and merged with The East Berks Football League and Chalvey were placed in Division 1. Chalvey won that league at the first attempt and were then promoted to the Premier Division for the 1993/94 season and we have been there ever since. Chalvey last won the Premier division in 1996/97.

Since then, Chalvey have had more success in cup competitions and have won the East Berks League cup on three occasions and runners up twice more. Chalvey have also won the Norfolkian Senior Cup, Ascot & Fielden cup and have been runners up twice in the Slough Town Senior Cup.

After a barren spell for the club, Chalvey last won this competition in 2012/13 and this was the start of the club’s current good run of form, which has seen us competing once again and challenging for honors.

Chalvey W.M.C. Sports would like to say a big thank you to Chalvey Working Mens Club for their continued support. Also a big thank you to our first team sponsor The Akash Tandoori Restaurant in Burnham.

Also big thank’s to Treasurer Malcolm Young, Secretary Steve Quelch and for for the Reserve team management of Carl Feasey and Bradley O’Brien for helping make this season run smoothly.
