Chasetown finally found a second half winner after a barrage of first half chances.
Some sterling defending, top saves from visiting keeper Sean Butler and some long range efforts that flashed just wide and just over was the story of a one-sided first half. Despite those attempts, the scoreline remained goalless at the half time interval with a low crowd bemused how the Scholars hadn't found a break through.
The winner eventually came in the 68th minute - a corner found its way into the penalty box and James O'Reilly smashed the ball into the roof of the net for his second career Chasetown goal, the first after his return.
The victory was also the first for Scott Dundas in the Walsall Senior Cup (at the third attempt).
